Twenty years of business logic
Legacy
Forms, views, agents, formulas: correct in terms of business, but rarely documented. Those who built them are almost never with the company any more.
DOMMCP
DraftDomMCP connects AI assistants with your HCL Domino environment. You describe in natural language what you want to know or get done. DomMCP gives the AI the Domino tools it needs for that.
EXPLAINED BRIEFLY
An ordinary AI does not know your Domino environment. DomMCP closes that gap.
An ordinary AI does not know which databases are on your server, which fields an application has, which users have access or what state a server is currently in. DomMCP gives it defined tools for HCL Domino. This way the AI can not only talk about Domino, but work with Domino.
A tool is a function that the AI assistant may call, for example: read view or search document. You decide which tools it may use. The connection runs via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open protocol through which AI assistants can use the tools of a system.
DomMCP is an add-in for HCL Domino and runs as a server task on your Domino server. Your Notes applications become accessible to AI: to read, to analyse and, if you want, to build. No migration, no new platform, on the server where your data already resides.
WHY DOMMCP EXISTS
The usual way out is migration. It costs years, budget and exactly the business logic that nobody can describe any more. DomMCP takes the other route: the application stays where it is.
Legacy
Forms, views, agents, formulas: correct in terms of business, but rarely documented. Those who built them are almost never with the company any more.
Access
What lies in NSF files (the name for Notes databases) never reaches any modern analysis. At least not without export, an intermediate layer and a second system that has to be maintained.
Expectation
Today this question comes from every management team. The honest answer used to be: only with a project that costs more than it delivers.
IN PRACTICE
Instead of working your way through databases, Designer, Administrator, log files or console commands, you describe your goal.
THREE PERSPECTIVES
Ask instead of searching.
The information is often already in Domino; you just have to know where. With DomMCP, users can find, evaluate and summarise data from Domino applications. DomMCP makes existing Domino data much easier to access.
From wish to application.
Domino developers often have to understand existing applications before they can change them. DomMCP analyses existing applications and makes their structure understandable for the AI. This makes DomMCP a toolbox for Domino development.
From problem to cause.
DomMCP gives an AI tools to examine a Domino environment and, depending on the authorised functions, to carry out administrative tasks. The administrator describes the problem or the desired result. DomMCP handles the technical communication with Domino. These functions belong to the Enterprise edition; the DMaaS services do not include server administration.
PROCESS
“Analyse our HelpDesk application.”
It decides which information and work steps are needed.
For reading, analysing, developing or administering.
The rights you have defined apply.
DEMONSTRATION
The task given to DomMCP was: invent an application and build it. No requirements specification. After 4 minutes the architecture was in place; after 15 minutes the application was running in the Notes client and in the browser.
The web interface lives in the same NSF file, so no second platform is needed. The equipment market has a detail dialog and is fully responsive. The start page in the Notes client shows key figures, available equipment and open repairs. In total 38 design elements, plus test agents that nobody had asked for.
Example from the product documentation (as of September 2026).
OPERATIONS
Installing means: copy the file, add it to ServerTasks (the list of server tasks) and start it.

FAQ
DomMCP connects AI assistants with HCL Domino via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It gives the AI defined Domino tools with which it can read servers, databases, documents and application design and, if you authorise it, change them too.
Not simply a chatbot. An ordinary AI does not know your Domino environment. DomMCP gives it defined tools so that it can work with Domino instead of just talking about it.
No. The application stays where it is. DomMCP runs as a server task on the Domino server where your data already resides. No migration or new platform is needed.
DomMCP runs on Linux x86_64, Windows x64 and in the HCL domino-container. Domino 12.0.2, 14.0 and 14.5 are supported.
DMaaS (Domino Modernisation as a Service) comprises seven steps for individual HCL Domino applications, from Discover to Transform. Each step is available on its own. You start where your need is.
